Fiorella Chacon
Role
Third- or fourth-year graduate student.
Main Project
Influenza hemagglutinin membrane biology arising from single-cell data in influenza-infected A549 cells.
Working Model
Influenza HA, when expressed at high concentration on the cell surface, may reduce membrane fluidity and thereby blunt receptor signaling. This may benefit the virus by limiting interferon signaling, TNF signaling, and other host responses.
Expertise
- Single-cell RNA-seq analysis.
- Influenza host-response interpretation.
- Underutilized single-cell analysis capability that should be integrated into more lab projects.
Current Priority
- Main HA/membrane project is going well.
- Needs a second/smaller synergistic project that leverages her single-cell analysis strengths.
Linked Projects
- IAV FITNESS
- Influenza HA Membrane Signaling
- Single Cell Analysis
