Rationale

Viruses have restricted genetic real estate, so viral proteins often perform more than one function. Influenza NS1 is usually framed as an innate immune antagonist; this project tests whether that is incomplete.

Approaches

• Deep mutational scanning of NS1.
• Structure-preserving amino-acid redesign.

• Add NS1 strain/background, library design, rescue/selection system, fitness readouts, innate antagonism assays, and structural redesign pipeline.
